Craft Kafe sits right around the corner from where I live, and it might be the best proof of what a downtown needs to feel like a neighborhood. It's a 100% gluten-free bakery and coffee shop, open air, with people cycling through from breakfast straight through late afternoon. Regulars, first-time visitors, and out-of-town guests all end up at the same tables.
That's really the point. It's not a destination people plan a trip around, it's a place people walk past, sit down at, and run into a neighbor.
Birds occasionally join from above, so keep an eye on your pastry. Otherwise, it's simply one of the best seats in downtown for watching the community in action.
