Fortu: A Michelin-Recommended Dinner in Downtown St. Petersburg

That red plaque by the door is a Michelin recommendation.

In Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

Last night, we had dinner at Fortu with new neighbors from Art House, just two blocks away. I discovered this restaurant two years ago, and it has anchored my sense of this city ever since.

Here is what I used to hear from clients coming to St. Pete from Chicago, San Francisco, or New York: the food never matched the cities they were leaving.

They were right.

Now they are not.

For fellow world travelers who use the Michelin Guide as a baseline wherever they land, you already know what that recognition means.

Fortu serves modern Asian cuisine through small plates designed for sharing, with a wine program that matches the room and service that anticipates without intruding.

Downstairs, sister operation ISU offers a more intimate setting for cocktails and a bite before walking to the Mahaffey Theater for an evening with The Florida Orchestra.

This is part of what makes Downtown St. Petersburg increasingly compelling. The restaurants, culture, architecture, and residential options are all evolving together.
